How long does each therapy session take?

Sessions are 45-50 minutes for individual, couples, and family counseling. The initial intake is 120 minutes and includes a detailed history and a diagnostic evaluation.

How do I navigate my insurance policy?

Give us a call to learn if one of our clinicians accepts your insurance.  Insurance companies are required to offer their customers appropriate services for their unique needs. If your insurance company states that you do not have coverage, we can still help!  Many insurance companies have online portals in which users can search for our of network provider coverage, an option for individuals looking to find a way to cover the cost of seeing a therapist. Beginning here is a good way to avoid long hold times with your insurance company.  If this is not made available to you, call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to determine what percentage your insurance company will reimburse you. Clients are given superbills and invoices to submit to their insurance company for reimbursement.  No benefits? Let us help you discuss coverage options with your insurance company.  

How do I know if I need therapy?

There are many reasons to begin therapy! Many individuals determine that they would like to begin when their emotions or behaviors are getting in the way of their ability to functioning. Others are interested in changing the inner dialogue which negatively affects them, have relationships that they would like to improve, or would like to do a bit of soul searching. 

How long does therapy last?

The duration of therapy depends on the needs of the client.  Some clients have sessions for a few weeks, for others, a few years.  Our goal is to help you reach your goal and let you know when we believe you've made the progress and no longer require services.  While talk therapy session duration varies, ERP therapy tends to be weekly for 3-4 months, then taper off to booster sessions once the client feels they have mastery of the techniques.  We're here for as long as you may need us!

What is talk therapy?

Talk therapy is a way to help individuals process through their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to affect change.  Our talk therapy sessions provide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a type of therapy which looks at the relationship between thoughts, behaviors, and emotions and assists in changing one in order to change them all.  With this kind of therapy, the client sets the agenda for sessions and are guided to develop insight, change mood, behavior, and thinking patterns.

What is Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) therapy?

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) is a kind of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which offers an action-oriented approach to facing fears and related anxieties.  Exposure Therapy is most commonly associated with work with Phobias, however, this kind of therapy works well for individuals who experience any form of anxiety and would like to stop the cycle including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Agoraphobia, Health Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Trauma, and of course, Phobias.  Previously, the mental health field believed that Anxiety was something to learn to live with, when in reality, curative treatment is available!
