What is OCD?
Symptoms of OCD
OCD shows up in many forms, but some common experiences include:
-
Repetitive, unwanted thoughts about harm, contamination, or morality
-
Constant checking, cleaning, counting, or reassurance-seeking
-
Avoiding situations that trigger anxiety
-
Feeling “stuck” in a mental loop that’s exhausting and confusing
-
Knowing the thoughts or actions aren’t rational — but feeling unable to stop them
OCD is more than just double-checking or wanting things "just right." It's a distressing pattern of intrusive or unwanted thoughts, fears, or mental images (obsessions) followed by deep avoidance or ritualistic behaviors (compulsions) that feel impossible to resist.
Over time, these cycles can take over your daily life, leaving you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and isolated.
How We Treat OCD
Treatments for OCD include Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), and Talk Therapy. These approaches are widely recognized for their success in helping individuals manage intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.
